How to properly mix your own metal alloys

Mixing your own metal alloys is sometimes likened to cooking—add a dash of this, a drop of that, and voilà. However, it’s actually more akin to baking, where not precisely measuring the ingredients can lead to failure. Sure, the mixture may yield a cake, but that cake could be dry and crumbly—just like poorly mixed casting grain can produce brittle, porosity-laden models.
