As I read Maria’s story, I was amazed at the life she’s lived and all of the hurdles she’s overcome. She’s had quite a life! Now with her children grown, she’s moving into the next phase of her life, and I wanted the piece I created for her to accommodate her active lifestyle. She’s not a socialite so I didn’t want to create something formal. Instead, I focused on creating a flexible and functional design. I settled on a pendant with a bail that can be folded back, allowing the piece to also be worn as a brooch. Because she is active, Maria can wear it as a necklace in her daily life or use it to dress up a jacket or scarf for more formal occasions.
