At the Bench Vol. 2

Tips, Techniques, and Step-by-Step Projects for Jewelers of All Skill Levels

Technical Editor: Joel McFadden

In 1999 MJSA Journal began publishing a monthly column called At the Bench. It quickly became one of the most popular in the magazine. Many years and hundreds of articles later, the column continues to follow the same basic mission: to offer time-saving tips and techniques that simplify bench work, to showcase best practices, and to present illustrative, step-by-step projects from expert jewelers showing those practices in action.

Some of the earliest articles were collected in the award-winning book At the Bench: An Illustrated Guide to Working with Gold and Silver by Gregg Todd and Greg Gilman, two of the column’s initial contributors. At the Bench Volume 2 presents an expanded range of the jewelers who have contributed articles covering all aspects of bench work, from basic techniques to step-by-step breakdowns of advanced skills.
