Congratulations to Karin Jacobson of Karin Jacobson Jewelry Design in Minneapolis, the winner of MJSA’s 2018 A Mission in Life Online Design Challenge!
This year we challenged nine designers to create a special anniversary gift for Mark Callahan’s expectant wife Lila featuring a collection of responsibly sourced gemstones, sourced from the project’s sponsor, Columbia Gem House in Vancouver, Washington.
Our nine participating designers created pieces to fit Lila’s active lifestyle and personality, and beginning in January we posted every month a different designer’s vision, along with the story behind it.
In October, when all nine designers were represented online, we asked readers and viewers to vote for their favorite design, and Karin Jacobson claimed the top prize. Our thanks to the eight other designers who participated in the project: Anna Bario of Bario Neal in Philadelphia; David Dorian of Dorian Jewelers in Watertown, Massachusetts; Claudia Endler of Claudia Endler Designs in Los Angeles; Peter Indorf of Peter Indorf Designs in Melbourne, Florida; Bliss Lau of Bliss Lau in New York City; Emily Phillippy of Emily Chelsea Jewelry in Philadelphia; Jillian Sassone of Marrow Fine Jewelry in Solana Beach, California; and Erin James Staples of Erin James Designs in Edmonds, Washington.
Click here to review all of the designs and read the backstory—and check back in January to learn about the new design challenge we have planned for 2019, which features a suite of responsibly sourced gemstones from sponsor Columbia Gem House. The announcement will appear in the January issue of MJSA Journal.
